Tools For Change

Tools For Change was born from the Making Sense of Social Media class in 2021.

Utilising data from Sensis and Glow, I worked in a team to produce an in-depth project targeting different demographics, focusing on Mental Health, to create Tools For Change, a digital tool to make a positive impact on Instagram feed.

Tools For Change aimed to raise awareness around mental health issues through online community discussion.

The main idea of the project was to spread mental health awareness within Social Media channels as the world was facing COVID-19 and Melbourne was having the harshest lockdown in the world.

Based on my previous experience with Impact Project, I created a digital marketing strategy with my team to feed Instagram with posts and stories and amplify the TFC network and followers.

I booked a weekly meeting with the group to share not only strategies on how to grow the project but also to share our own experiences with mental health.

From our meetings and data from Sensis and Glow, we brainstormed our posts and decided to tell our experiences with Mental Health.

I put myself in front of the camera and acknowledged my story in order to incentivise the topic and people to talk about it with their families and parents.

Within 2 months, Tools For Change gained up to 400 followers and had a total of 12 posts.

Our Marketing Strategy involved recognizing the TFC target audience, posting and interacting with our followers and similar IG content, using Sensis Data and researching Mental Health content as well as bringing to the personal side and sharing our own experience with mental health. At the end of the project, Tools For Change had over 400 followers and received weekly messages from followers and people interested in our content.

We managed to achieve a 200% growth in our followers, just one month after we created Tools For Change.
